Cathy McCarron is the Dean of Arts, Humanities & Adult Education. Previously, Cathy was a Professor of English and Humanities at Middlesex Community College where she worked for 14 years. She served as department chair, co-coordinator of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Community, faculty chair of the five-year NECHE report, chair of the retention committee, member of the strategic planning steering committee, study abroad leader, and recipient of the NISOD excellence award. She taught courses in composition and literature and honors seminars in world cultures and Latin American cultures. She served as a segment leader in the Department of Higher Education’s MassTransfer initiative and has been involved in state-wide efforts related to English language learners, open education resources (OER), and assessment. Prior to her time at Middlesex, Cathy spent nearly 15 years working in administration and teaching part-time at Northeastern University. She earned her BA from Boston College, MA from Northeastern University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education leadership at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
