Captain Phil Van Landschoot began his career with the Cape Coral Police Department in 1998. Captain Van Landschoot is currently the Captain of the Special Operations Bureau overseeing the Motor Unit, Traffic Homicide Unit, K-9 Unit, Aviation Liaison, Honor Guard, Marine Unit, DUI Unit, Volunteer Unit and Fleet Liaison. Prior to being selected as the Special Operations Captain, Captain Van Landschoot served as a Patrol Bureau Lieutenant overseeing a Platoon. Captain Van Landschoot has previously served in the Investigative Services Bureau as a Detective and Detective Sergeant, Sergeant in Personnel and Training, Motor/Traffic Sergeant, and Polygraph Examiner. Captain Van Landschoot earned a Masters of Science in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education, Training, and Development from Southern Illinois University. He is also a graduate of the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, Florida Leadership Academy, and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Senior Management Institute for Police.
