James F. Whalen is the current Chairman at Capital Bank. Prior to this, they were with SSM Health Care, Maryville University of Saint Louis, and the Saint Louis Zoo Association. From January 2003 to July 2018, they were with Mastercard Worldwide as the Senior Vice President, U.S. Markets. In this role, they led the relationship management strategies and operations for MasterCard’s top 77 key US customers with a focus on technology and new product introductions. James was responsible for increasing sales lead volume and incremental annual revenue by $20 million through team reorganization. James also utilized SWOT analysis to establish objectives, metrics, and reporting for operational/fraud/advisory reviews. Furthermore, they implemented a global commercial technology account function (international regions) to support the key global commercial issuers which led to increased customer satisfaction and a consistent customer support model to drive incremental global commercial sales in excess of $40M.
However, recent MasterCard restructuring led to their role being relocated overseas. Instead of moving, they opted to transition their role and provide ongoing consultative insights to their colleagues to ensure their continued success. James is currently seeking full-time leadership challenges.
James F. Whalen has a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business and an MS in Taxation from the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business.
