Derek Shay

Derek Shay is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in corporate strategy and leadership roles at Capital One since August 2016, currently serving as Vice President and Senior Director, Head of Checking. Shay has successfully driven double-digit growth in purchase volume and revenue, and has implemented innovative digital features for consumer banking. Previously, as Director of Corporate Strategy, Shay led teams in executing strategic priorities for senior executives, facilitated the launch of the Venture X credit card, and influenced significant investments through analytical problem solving and executive presentations. Earlier roles in corporate strategy further developed expertise in product strategy and competitive analysis. Derek Shay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Biology from Brown University.
