Josh Marcuse is the Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the CEO of Google Public Sector. He joined Google in 2020 and has led teams in business development and public sector strategy and innovation in the U.S. and abroad.
Previously, Josh served as executive director of the Defense Innovation Board, a group of distinguished leaders tasked with bringing the technological and cultural innovations of Silicon Valley to the Department of Defense (DoD). Josh also served as the innovation advisor to the DoD CTO and held roles in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) for Policy, Personnel and Readiness, and for the DoD Chief Management Officer. Prior to DoD, Josh worked at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, Booz Allen Hamilton, and the Council on Foreign Relations. Josh is the founder or co-founder of three non-profits: Globally, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, and the Federal Innovator Network at the Partnership for Public Service. Josh also serves as an advisor or board member to Special Competitive Studies Project, Schmidt Futures, Silicon Valley Defense Group, Tech Talent Project, and the DayOne Project. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project.
