Alex Koumarelas

Alex Koumarelas has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Alex started their career in 2005 as an Electrical Engineer, E.I.T. at Williams Engineering Canada Inc. Alex worked there until 2007, gaining valuable experience in the field.

In 2007, Alex joined Capital Power, where they held various roles throughout their tenure. Alex started as an Electrical Engineer and worked in this position until 2017. During this time, they developed expertise in electrical engineering and contributed to various projects.

In 2017, Alex was promoted to the role of Quality Assurance Manager - Chief Inspector at Capital Power. Alex held this position until 2022, demonstrating their ability to lead and manage quality assurance processes effectively.

Most recently, Alex assumed the role of Manager - Electrical, Instrumentation, & Controls Engineering at Capital Power in October 2022. As the manager, they will leverage their expertise and experience to oversee the electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering activities within the company.

Alex Koumarelas completed their education at the University of Alberta. Alex obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from 1999 to 2003. Later, they pursued a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2003 to 2004.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Alex Koumarelas obtained several certifications. Alex became a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) through the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in October 2009. Later, they obtained the P.Eng. designation from Professional Engineers Ontario in November 2018. Furthermore, they received the SCO certification from the Safety Codes Council in October 2016 and the PMP certification from the Project Management Institute in November 2015.
