Diederic Godin

Diederic Godin has a diverse work experience in the energy sector, spanning multiple roles and companies. Diederic began their career in 1995 as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Alstom Power, where they gained expertise in mechanical design. From 1996 to 2002, they worked as a Field Service Engineer, providing support and assistance for field operations.

In 2002, Diederic transitioned to the role of a Welding Engineer at Alstom Power, where they were responsible for field welding activities and the development of weld procedures. Diederic continued to support and maintain ALSTOM Canada Inc. until 2005.

In 2005, Diederic joined TransAlta as a Senior Boiler Engineer, overseeing all fleet boiler/HRSG issues and failures. Diederic played a crucial role in spreading learnings across facilities and engaging with plant personnel on technical issues. In 2008, they were promoted to Lead Engineer, Boilers, Technical Services, where they communicated technical assessments and provided advice on capital projects.

From 2018 to 2019, Diederic held the position of Acting Manager, Operations Diagnostic Centre/Engineering Governance at TransAlta. Diederic led a highly experienced team in performing advanced monitoring and diagnostics of generation assets using machine learning and data analytics. Diederic also managed all aspects of Engineering Governance.

In 2019, Diederic joined Capital Power as a Senior Specialist Engineer, Mechanical and Optimization. Diederic was responsible for optimizing engineering processes and providing technical expertise. In 2021, they were promoted to Senior Manager roles, first in Mechanical and Optimization Engineering, and then in Technical Support and Optimization Engineering.

Throughout their career, Diederic has demonstrated technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong focus on optimizing engineering processes and driving cost savings.

Diederic Godin completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 1994. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained certifications in areas such as ABSA In-Service Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspection from the Alberta Boilers Safety Association and National Board IS Commission and R Endorsement from The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
