Derek Thorington is a seasoned professional in the cement industry, currently serving as the Plant Manager at Capitol Aggregates, Inc. since January 2012. Prior experience includes roles as Operations Manager and Production Manager at TXI from 2008 to 2012, as well as a tenure at CEMEX from 2001 to 2008 where duties encompassed Internal Consultant - Process, Process Engineer, Project Engineer, and Production Manager. Additional experience includes serving as Staff Engineer at Weston & Sampson and Production Supervisor at Hanson Permanente Cement Inc. Derek holds an MBA in Business from Texas State University (2002-2007) and a BS in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara (1991-1995).
