João Carmo has a diverse work experience in various software engineering roles. João is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Capmo since June 2022. Previously, they worked as a Lead Software Engineer at Litten from March 2020 to the present. In this role, they developed a cross-platform animal adoption app using React Native and Firebase.
Prior to that, João worked as a Senior Software Engineer at ONI from June 2021 to May 2022. Here, they were part of the software engineering team responsible for a collaborative cloud web application for scientific data sharing and analysis.
Before ONI, João was a Senior Software Engineer at Amyris from July 2020 to June 2021. In this role, they were involved in developing and maintaining IP applications used by the R&D department.
João also worked as a Frontend Engineer at InterNations from December 2019 to June 2020. Here, they contributed to the InterNations GO! project and worked on the public-facing web application.
Prior to InterNations, João worked at Synopsys Inc as a Full Stack Engineer. João was involved in various projects, including the development of internal web applications for asset management and inventory. Additionally, they also worked in IT logistics, developing MS Excel Macros and providing support.
In 2012, João had an academic research internship at Centro de Astrofísica da Universidade do Porto.
Throughout their career, João has gained experience with a wide range of technologies, including React, JavaScript, Python, Docker, Git, and many others.
João Carmo has a strong educational background with degrees spanning multiple fields. João obtained their first bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão de Viseu, where they studied from 2008 to 2011. Following this, they attended the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics. To further enhance their knowledge, João pursued a Master's degree in Economics from the ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, which they successfully completed in 2018. Overall, João Carmo has a diverse educational history, encompassing fields ranging from Electrical and Electronics Engineering to Physics and Economics.
