Minghao Sun

Minghao Sun has extensive work experience in various roles and companies.

From 2021 to the present, Sun works as the Vice President of Research & Product Development at Capricor Therapeutics, where they are responsible for leading all product development activities, overseeing research and process development, and managing CMC aspects related to the SteachX Vaccine program.

Prior to this, from 2021 to 2022, Sun served as the Senior Director of R&D at Capricor Therapeutics, where they led the development of Capricor's engineered exosomes & RNA therapeutic platform, coordinated R&D activities, and collaborated with various teams.

From 2020 to 2021, Sun held the position of Senior Director and Head of In Vitro Pharmacology at WuXi AppTec's Research Service Division. They were responsible for leading the in vitro pharmacology department, managing R&D and operations, and achieving significant revenue growth.

In 2019, Sun joined Trans Ova Genetics as the Director of Stem cell R&D. They were responsible for establishing and managing the San Diego stem cell R&D facility, executing tech transfer, and acting as a program manager and site administrator.

From 2012 to 2019, Sun worked at Intrexon Corporation, starting as a senior scientist and progressing to become the General Manager of the San Diego facility. They held various managerial positions and contributed to the company's R&D and operations.

Prior to this, from 2008 to 2012, Sun worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Scripps Research, focusing on small molecule drug screening and publishing several research papers.

Sun's early career includes a role as a Research Assistant at The Pennsylvania State University, where they conducted research on negative stranded RNA viruses and infectious diseases.

Minghao Sun obtained their Ph.D in Virology & Pathobiology from Penn State University, completing their studies from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Virology from Wuhan University, studying from 1995 to 2002. Additionally, they also obtained a Master's degree in Medical Virology from Wuhan University, completing their studies from 1999 to 2002.
