Juan Guzman has worked in various roles in the biotechnology industry since 2008. In 2008, they worked as a Field Engineer for GreenFuel Technologies, where they led biological and engineering operations of a large-scale CO2 emissions to algae to biodiesel pilot. Juan also worked as a Researcher and R&D Engineer at Trophos Energy and a Senior Research Engineer at Cambrian Innovation, LLC. In 2012, they became a Cornell Commercialization Fellow and a PhD candidate - NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Cornell University, where they modeled and built a novel micro-reactor device and improved electrode material for bioelectrochemical systems. In 2017, they became the Entrepreneurial Lead for Innovation Corps (I-Corps) team at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Most recently, they have been the CEO of Capro-X Inc. since 2018, where they are developing a sustainable biotechnology to increase the sustainability of the dairy industry.
Juan Guzman completed their High School/Secondary Diplomas and Certificates at Mass Academy from 2000 to 2004. Juan then attended Tufts University from 2004 to 2009, where they earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. From 2012 to 2014, they earned a Master's Degree in Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University from 2012 to 2018.
