Charles T. Lake II (Chip), joining CapZone as Chief Financial Officer, has over 20 years of experience leading transactions and managing investments in the telecommunications, IT and media industries. Currently Managing Director of Signal Equity Partners, a private equity investment firm in New York, he has led leveraged buy-outs, roll-ups, restructurings and secondary purchases of investment portfolios and alternative assets. He has served as a Board member for Signal’s investments, and acted as the operational partner of the fund in charge of fund financials, audits, tax preparation and communications with Limited Partners. With extensive experience in company operations and analytical situations, he leads the due diligence and modeling of investments and subsequently provides direction and assistance to portfolio companies as to their financial management and operations during the monitoring phase.

From 1993 to 1996, Chip served as director of budget and finance for two early-stage telecom companies: Telular, a wireless local loop equipment company, and Transworld Communications (USA), a satellite communications company. At Telular he created and ran the budget and financial measurement process for the company, which had just completed its initial public offering. At Transworld Communications, he was part of a team working on commercializing Russian satellites. Prior to receiving his Masters degree, Mr. Lake spent six years with William M. Mercer Inc. as a consultant structuring executive compensation and creating performance-based incentive plans. As part of his tenure with Mercer, Mr. Lake worked overseas in Sydney, Australia.

Chip received a B.S. in Physics and Computer from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, in 1984 and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 1993 with majors in strategy and finance.
