James Murphy has held a variety of positions in their professional career. From 1987 to 1991, they served as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army, where they led a platoon of 32 soldiers and a company of 69 soldiers, and was responsible for developing training and supervising operations for a Military Intelligence Battalion of over 200 soldiers in the United States and in Korea. From 1991 to 1995, they worked as a Sales Representative for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. James then became an Associate at Mayer, Brown & Platt from 1995 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000, they were an Associate at Asset-Backed Finance at Credit Suisse First Boston, where they were the lead associate on asset-backed securities transactions involving prime and subprime auto and equipment loans, Enhanced Equipment Pass Thru Certificate transactions involving commercial jet aircraft, commercial paper warehouse facility involving marine and motorcycle loans, and CDO transaction involving non-U. S. securities. From 2000 to 2002, they worked as a Vice President at Mergers & Acquisitions at Credit Suisse First Boston. From 2002 to 2010, they were a Director at Structured Credit Products Group at Deutsche Bank, where they founded a student lending company which marketed, originated, funded and serviced student loans, and accomplished the optimal disposal of $16+bn of troubled assets. From 2010 to 2014, they were an Executive Director at UBS Securities LLC, where they managed the review and remediation of The Federal Reserve Board's Supervision and Regulation Letters program. Since 2019, they have been the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Car Capital Technologies, Inc., where they work with global business partners across all major business functions to identify regulatory requirements, ensure proper controls are implemented to satisfy those requirements, and determine the effectiveness of those controls.
James Murphy attended the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1983 to 1987, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Near and Middle Eastern Studies. James then went on to attend Fordham University School of Law from 1992 to 1995, where they earned a J.D.
