Rick Makara

Rick Makara, CPA has a diverse work experience in accounting and finance. Rick began their career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where they served as a Senior Manager for seventeen years. In 2010, they joined Purdue Pharma as the Director of Accounting, and later transitioned to the role of Director of Accounting at Cara Therapeutics in 2014. At Cara Therapeutics, they quickly rose to the position of Controller before becoming Vice President, Head of Accounting and Controller in 2018. In this role, Rick was responsible for various financial and office operating activities, including financial statements, payroll, and acting as the primary contact for auditors and consultants. Rick also served as the Acting CFO at Cara Therapeutics from December 2019 to October 2020.

Rick Makara, CPA earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Purdue University in 1992. Rick has also obtained a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the State of Connecticut.
