John Smith has been an educator for most of their adult life. John began their career as a social studies teacher at Largo High School in 1998. John then moved to Mifflinburg High School in 2000 and taught there for one year. In 2001, they began teaching at Caravel Academy, where they taught for five years. In 2006, they became the Lower School Principal at Caravel Academy, where they have served in that role for 14 years.

John Smith attended Bishop Guilfoyle High School. John then went on to Clarion University of Pennsylvania where they received their bachelor's degree. John continued their education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, earning their master's degree in education. Finally, they completed their education at Wilmington College (OH), earning their Master of Education degree.
