Lionel Perera

Founder & CEO at Carbon Activated

Lionel Perera was born in Sri Lanka. At the age of 18, he joined one of the largest carbon factories in the world as a lab technician. during his 17 year career there, Lionel worked in various divisions and learned about how to manufacture carbon, eventually rising to the ranks of production executive. In 1990 he migrated to the U.S. and started his own business in 1993, calling it Carbon Activated Corporation (CAC) and basing it in Los Angeles, California.

Today CAC is generally ranked as the 4th or 5th most successful activated carbon company in the world. CAC has branches in 6 U.S. locations, as well as 5 locations internationally, including its coconut carbon manufacturing plant in Sri Lanka.

His latest endeavor is to build the U.S. activated carbon manufacturing facility to produce carbon from the U.S. mined coal.
