Richard was a Research Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from September 2007 to June 2009.

Richard started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory from January 2006 to September 2007.

Richard's early work experience includes being a Graduate Researcher at UC Santa Barbara from August 2001 to January 2006.

Richard Middleton has an extensive education history in the field of geography and operations research. Richard first attended Lancaster University from 1993 to 1996, where they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Geography. Following this, Middleton pursued further education at the University of Leicester from 1998 to 1999, earning a Master of Science degree in GIScience. Finally, they attended UC Santa Barbara from 2001 to 2006, where they obtained their Ph.D. in Geography and Operations Research.
