Saigopal Nelaturi has extensive experience in the field of research and software development. Saigopal is currently working as the Director of Software Research at Carbon since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at PARC, a Xerox Company, where they held various roles including Research Director, Research Area Manager, Research Scientist, and Postdoctoral researcher. During their time at PARC, they contributed to strategic initiatives in design and digital manufacturing, led research and technology development, and managed the CASE research area.

Before joining PARC, Saigopal worked as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the Spatial Automation Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Their responsibilities included applying group theory to mechanical design and manufacturing, developing algorithms for high dimensional configuration space computations, and assisting in teaching activities.

Saigopal also gained industry experience as a Visiting Research Scholar at General Motors, where they collaborated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison in developing algorithms for robot-assisted weld planning and automated robot validation and design with motion constraints.

In addition, Saigopal completed an internship at the General Electric Global Research Center, where they focused on real-time visualization of internal mechanical defects using ultrasound non-destructive evaluation. Saigopal gained hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, data acquisition with LabVIEW, and image processing software.

Saigopal Nelaturi has an extensive education history in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Saigopal started their academic journey at RV College Of Engineering, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree from 1999 to 2003. After completing their undergraduate studies, Saigopal went on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, from 2003 to 2004. Saigopal then continued their education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2005 to 2010. Saigopal furthered their expertise in the same field by completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2005 to 2011. Throughout their educational journey, Saigopal dedicated their studies to enhancing their knowledge and skills in Mechanical Engineering.
