Borja Martínez-Laredo

Borja Martínez-Laredo has over 20 years of experience in the finance and automotive industries. Borja is currently the CEO of Carbures Europe, a leading supplier of advanced composite materials.

Prior to joining Carbures, Borja was a member of the board of directors of Airtificial, an Aerospace and Defense company. Borja also served as the group CEO of Carbures from May 2017 to November 2018.

Before their tenure at Carbures, Borja worked at UBS as a director from October 2012 to May 2017. Prior to that, they were the director of grandes patrimonios at Capital At Work AV from May 2011 to September 2012. Borja also served as the general director of CCS from August 2008 to May 2011.

Borja began their career in 1997 at Barclays Inversiones, S.I.C.A.V., where they served as a member of the board of directors until 2011. Borja then became the CEO of Financiera Automovilistica Mercantil Industrial, S.A. in September 1997 and held that position until August 2008.

Borja Martínez-Laredo has a degree in Economics and Business from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and has completed executive programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Business School, and IESE Business School. Borja is currently the Managing Director at IE Business School.

Carbures Europe

Carbures Europe SA is a Spain-based company principally engaged in the engineering and manufacturing sector, specializing in carbon fiber. It has three business lines: Consultancy, Manufacture, and Research and Development (R&D). In the Consultancy area it concentrates on technical education, lean manufacturing and recurrent and non-recurrent engineering, among others. In the Manufacture sector it produces the composite materials structures through such technologies as: Hand Lay-UP (HLU), which consists in pilling different layers of pre-impregnated material; Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), where a resin is mixed with a catalyst and injected into a closed mould that contains dry fiber; and Vacuum Assistant Transfer Molding (VARTM). The R&D is related to the projects in the transport and civil construction. In May 2014, the Company acquired Capital House Australasia, a Perth-based provider of project management and civil and structural engineering services.
