Senior Director, Multiomics Assay Development at Cardea

Michael Catania has extensive experience in product development. Michael began their career in 2000 as a Senior Staff Scientist at Clinical Micro Sensors. From 2004-2005, they worked as a Senior Scientist at Vysis/Abbott Molecular and Nanosphere. In 2007, they joined Gen-Probe as a Manager of IVD Product Development, where they were responsible for leading a scientific team that developed the first CE and FDA-cleared IVD NAAT test for Trichomonas vaginalis. In 2011, they became the VP of Product Development at Banyan Biomarkers Inc., and then the Senior Director and Director of Product Development. In 2019, they were the Executive Director of Assay Development at Biological Dynamics. In 2020, they were the Director of Platform Development at Quidel, and in 2021, they joined Cardea Bio, Inc. as the Senior Director of Multiomics Assay Development, where they are responsible for building and leading teams of scientists developing both molecular and protein-based assays.

Michael Catania completed their A.S in Electronics and Computer Science from Don Bosco Technical Institute, Rosemead, CA in 1987. Michael then obtained a B.S in Biotechnology from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona in 1993. Finally, they earned their PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology with a focus on Genetic Diseases of Brain Development from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000.
