Creative Industries Technician - Art, Textiles, Graphics And D&t at Cardiff and Vale College

Aaron Leslie has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different organizations. Aaron started their career in 2013 as an IT Services Student Technician at Cardiff and Vale College, where they gained practical experience in installing and configuring computer hardware and software. In 2018, they worked as a STEM Associate at Engineering Education Scheme Wales Ltd, where they supported project management and assisted students in product design, engineering, and architecture projects.

In 2019, Aaron took on the role of Student Trustee at the University of South Wales Students' Union, where they were responsible for managing and administering the organization and ensuring it met its objectives. Aaron also worked as a Creative Industries Student Teacher at Cardiff and Vale College, teaching design and technology courses and introducing new assignments to enhance students' professional practice skills.

Aaron's work experience also includes being a STEM Outreach Officer at the University of South Wales, where they organized and delivered outreach activities for young people and built connections with industry partners and external bodies. Aaron later joined Cardiff University as a Project Support Specialist in the Better Ways of Working Programme, overseeing various aspects of the project, including procurement, space planning, and project management.

Currently, Aaron is working at Cardiff and Vale College as a Design & Technology Lecturer, where they teach in the Creative and General Education Departments. Aaron covers lectures for product design and leads assignments for research papers and dissertation proposals. Aaron is also a Creative Arts Technician at the college.

Aaron Leslie began their education at Cardiff and Vale College in 2014, where they earned a BTEC Extended Diploma in 3D Design. Aaron then continued their studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University, completing a Foundation Degree in Industrial and Product Design from 2016 to 2018. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Industrial and Product Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University from 2018 to 2019.

In 2019, Aaron Leslie enrolled at the University of South Wales, where they obtained a PgCE Post Compulsory Education and Training. Their field of study during this program included Teacher Education and Professional Development, 3D Design, and Product Design.

In addition to their formal education, Aaron has acquired several certifications. In 2020, they became a Certified Apple Teacher through Apple and a Microsoft Innovative Educator through Microsoft. Aaron also obtained certifications including Adobe Creative Educator Level 1 from Adobe in 2022 and the Overall Digital Capabilities in Education certification from Jisc in 2021. Moreover, they completed courses such as Core Strategies for Teaching in Higher Ed, Inclusive Leadership, Learning Design Thinking: Lead Change in Your Organization, Scrum: The Basics, and Mental Health First-Aider, all obtained from various institutions such as LinkedIn and Mental Health First Aid Wales between 2020 and 2022. Additionally, they obtained a Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management from ILM in 2021.

These educational and certification experiences have equipped Aaron with a diverse set of skills and knowledge in the areas of design, education, leadership, and technology.
