James Jenkins has a diverse and extensive work experience in various sectors. James started their career in 1996 as a Graduate Civil Engineer at Arup, where they worked until 2000. James then worked as a CAD Manager at Atkins from 2000 to 2004, and later as a CAD Manager at Mott MacDonald from 2004 to 2006.

From 2006 to 2009, James worked as a Technical Director: Systems and Delivery at Capita Symonds, where they designed coordinated systems and worked across multiple disciplines. James then became an Operations Director at LCC Wales from 2009 to 2010, where they managed waste services and developed company strategy.

In 2010, James worked as a Waste Management Officer at Cardiff and Vale NHS, ensuring compliance with waste legislation. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Trainer at Cylch, delivering training in waste management and building relationships with clients.

From 2012 to 2017, James worked as a Lecturer/Trainer at Gower College Swansea and Coleg Y Cymoedd, delivering various qualifications in health, safety, environment, and construction management. Currently, they work as a Lecturer in Civil Engineering at Cardiff and Vale College, where they prepare and delivers higher education programs in construction, the built environment, and civil engineering.

James Jenkins has a diverse education history spanning several years. James began their education at Aberdare Boys Comprehensive from 1984 to 1991, although no degree or field of study is specified during this time. James furthered their education in 2013 by completing the NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety with Distinction at Gower College Swansea. This was followed by the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management with Distinction from the same college in 2014. In the same year, James also attained a Level 4 City and Guilds Internal Quality Assurance qualification from Gower College Swansea. James then studied at the University of South Wales in 2014 to receive a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Distinction. Finally, from 2020 to 2024, James pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Green Building at the Centre for Alternative Technology.
