Lead For Patient & Public Involvement at Cardiff University

Emma Hughes (Bloodworth) has a diverse range of work experiences, starting in 2008 with their role as an Evaluator/Team Leader at Interplay, where they coordinated and evaluated play provision for children and young people with mental health diagnoses and additional learning needs. In 2009, they took on a voluntary position as a Primary Teacher at New Life International Orphanage in Ghana, teaching various subjects within the Ghanaian curriculum. From 2010 to 2013, Emma served as the Network Manager at the eHealth Industries Innovation Centre, where they facilitated communication forums, managed the website, and conducted market research. In 2013, they joined Genetic Alliance UK as a Policy & Engagement Manager for Wales, leading policy and communication efforts for the development of genetics in healthcare. Emma also became the Lead for Patient & Public Involvement at Wales Gene Park in the same year. In 2007, Emma became a founding trustee for Children's Helpers Worldwide, working with local organizations to support children in developing countries. Most recently, in 2022, they became a Director at Good Thymes Gardening CIC, contributing to the development of this gardening-focused community interest company.

Emma Hughes (Bloodworth) obtained their LLB in Law from Aberystwyth University, where they studied from 2004 to 2007. Emma then pursued a PgDip in Legal Practice at Swansea University, completing their studies in 2008.
