Kent Baker has work experience in various roles and industries. Kent started their career in 1994 as a Store Manager at West Marine, where they managed multiple retail locations and handled tasks such as hiring, training, and inventory management. In 2001, they became the Owner of Maumee Bay Boatworks, specializing in the maintenance and repair of older gasoline inboard engines. From 2005 to 2010, Kent worked as a Field Technician at D.R. Frederick & Associates, where they operated GPS and Total Station equipment for property surveys and topographic surveys. In 2016, they became a Research Vessel Captain at Cardinal Point Captains, Inc, working with NOAA Scientists on water sampling and deploying instrumentation. Lastly, from 2017 to 2019, they served as a Captain at J&M Cruise Lines, operating a 103-passenger vessel and providing a scenic cruise experience for passengers.
Kent Baker attended Vermilion High School from 1983 to 1987, where they pursued college preparatory studies. Following high school, they enrolled at Lorain County Community College from 1987 to 1989, earning an Associate's degree in Music, with a focus on General music studies. Kent then continued their education at The Ohio State University from 1989 to 1992, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. Their studies at Ohio State involved a combination of Music, City and Regional Planning, allowing him to explore both subjects within the scope of their degree program.
