Dr. Edimar Bocchi trained as a cardiologist at the Heart Institute (InCor) Of São Paulo University Medical School and obtained his PhD at the São Paulo University Medical School. Currently, he serves as the Head of Heart Failure Clinics and Heart Failure Team at Heart Institute (Incor) of Hospital das Clinicas of São Paulo University Medical School. His areas of clinical and research interest include heart failure, Chagas heart disease, cardio-oncology, heart transplantation, and exercise in heart failure.
Dr. Bocchi is one of the founders of the Department of Heart Failure of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology. He is a pioneer in the development of heart transplantation in Chagasic cardiomyopathy; nitric oxide and phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors in heart failure. He is an author of more than 500 publications in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to 70 book chapters, and serves as the national coordinator for several randomized clinical trials, including the BELIEF, COMMANDER, SHIFT, RAD 2401, VICTORIA, DETERMINE, and EMPEROR Trials.
