Maria Alu

Maria Alu has a diverse work experience that includes roles in publications, cardiology, and music. Maria is currently working as the Director of the Publications Office at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. Prior to this, they served as the Assistant Deputy Editor at Structural Heart: The Journal of the Heart Team. Maria also has experience as a Cardiology Publications Manager at Columbia University Medical Center. Additionally, they have a background in music as a Soprano at the Baroque Orchestra of NJ and as a Cantor and Cathedral Choir Soprano at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Maria has also worked as a Clinical Trials Manager at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and as a Project Manager and Administrative Assistant at Columbia University Medical Center.

Maria Alu completed their Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree in Vocal Performance at New York University from 1998 to 2002. Maria then pursued a Master of Music (M.M.) degree in Vocal Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music from 2003 to 2005. Later, they enrolled at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Epidemiology from 2014 to 2016. Maria also attended The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2010, although no specific degree information was provided. Additionally, in October 2018 they became a Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) through the ISMPP (International Society for Medical Publication Professionals).
