David MacDonald

Medical Director, North Shore at Care Dimensions

Based in our Danvers office, Dr. David Macdonald is the medical director, North Shore, where he oversees physicians in our North Shore service area and cares for patients at the Kaplan Family Hospice House located in Danvers. He also helps develop clinical programs and expands Care Dimensions’ outreach to professional health care organizations through educational activities and relationship building.

Prior to joining Care Dimensions full time in 2017, he had served in a part-time capacity at the Kaplan Family Hospice House for a year. From 2010 to 2017, Dr. Macdonald was an inpatient hospital medicine specialist at Lahey Clinic Hospital, rising to the division chief of hospital medicine for Lahey’s Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals in 2014. In that position, he focused on the management of medical staff and the quality of the inpatient care experience.

Dr. Macdonald is board certified in internal medicine and as a hospice medical director. He is a graduate of the Ross University School of Medicine, and is an instructor for the Harvard Palliative Care Medicine Fellowship Program.
