Dolika Banda

Dolika Banda, a Zambian national, is an Independent Consultant focused on accelerating economic development and impact finance in emerging markets, with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa. With extensive and deep experience in development finance, she has managed diverse multi-cultural teams in multiple geographic locations, with oversight for portfolios of several billion US-dollars across the globe. She has built a career working across different disciplines including risk management, treasury and financial markets. In addition to the power of finance, close to her heart are issues of climate change, gender equality, education and health, with a strong desire to see a more inclusive, secure and prosperous society in her lifetime. She is passionate and relentless in leveraging her rich experience towards erasing the economic and social disparities that persist globally as framed in the UN SDGs.

Over a 36-year career, she has held senior leadership positions with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), the UK government’s development finance institution (CDC Group Plc), the African Union’s African Risk Capacity Insurance Company (ARC Ltd), Citibank Zambia and Barclays Bank Zambia. With a focus on banking and finance, her international experience combines operational investments as well as policy advice. She has worked across the globe, including Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Central Asia and the United States of America.

Since 2013, Dolika has been focused on economic, inclusive, transformational and climate-conscious development for Africa and innovative interventions in education. She is a member of the Transformation Leadership Panel (TLP), established by the Africa Center for Economic Transformation (ACET).

She currently sits on various boards including CDC Group Plc, the UK’s development finance institution and Harith General Partners, a pan-African infrastructure development fund manager. Dolika also serves as a trustee on Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA), Education Outcomes Fund (EOF) and nature and tourism-based community intervention, Time and Tide Foundation in Zambia and Madagascar.

Dolika holds a Higher National Diploma in Banking from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge and a Masters in Business Administration from Schiller International University.
