Esther Watts

Esther Watts is a seasoned professional in gender equality and program leadership with over 13 years of experience at CARE USA, currently serving as the Senior Director of the Gender Justice Team. In this capacity, Esther leads the development and implementation of gender equality strategies globally. Previous roles include Acting Regional Director for Ethiopia and Somalia, where Esther provided strategic leadership for large country offices, and Country Director for Ethiopia, overseeing substantial operations and employee teams. Esther's extensive experience also includes managing significant projects focused on women's empowerment and establishing effective program quality standards. Prior to CARE, Esther worked with Concern Worldwide as Assistant Country Director for Programmes, managing large budgets and teams. Esther holds an MSc in Rural Development from the University of Birmingham.
