Katherine Agüero

Katherine Agüero is a seasoned professional in humanitarian and security management, currently serving as the Regional Security Manager for the Americas at CARE, where responsibilities include leading the Security, Operational Access, and Risk unit across the region. Prior experience includes roles as an Associate Protection Officer at UNHCR, focusing on anti-trafficking and child protection in Guyana, and as a Security Management Specialist at Chemonics International, overseeing security risk analyses and compliance across multiple regions. Additional positions include providing advocacy and crisis response for human trafficking victims at Polaris and coordinating legal support for unaccompanied children at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. Katherine holds an M.Sc. in International Humanitarian Action from University College Dublin and a B.Sc. in Political Science from Jönköping University, complemented by an Erasmus exchange at Université libre de Bruxelles.
