Jo Abernathy

Jo Abernathy serves as the VP of IT Product Delivery at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield since November 2024. Previously, Jo held the position of Chief Information Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina from January 2005 to April 2024, overseeing an IT team of over 900 full-time employees and approximately 800 contractors for a $12 billion health insurance company. Jo also held roles as Vice President of Applications Development and Vice President of Information Management earlier in the career. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where Jo attended an evening program while working full time.
