Mark Hansan

Co-Founder & Excutive Chairman at CareMetx

In 2011, Mark co-founded CareMetx, LLC to support biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers with solutions, services and technology to support patient access, management and outcomes.

Mark began his healthcare career in 1984, when he joined the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. For the next decade, Mark held a variety of roles including Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. In 1988, Mark was part of the team that opened CF Services Pharmacy, the nation’s first disease-specific specialty pharmacy. In 1992, Mark became responsible for management and growth of the pharmacy including supporting the launch of biotechnology products for people with cystic fibrosis. Today, CF Services Pharmacy is a Walgreens Alliance Pharmacy.

After leaving the Foundation in 1994, Mark co-founded two health service companies that led to the creation of TheraCom, Inc. in 1996. As President, Mark successfully led the company to be the first to offer manufacturers integrated services for complex biotechnology specialty products. He became Chief Executive Officer in 1999, leading the company to $100M in 2001 revenues at the time it was acquired by AdvancePCS. Mark continued to lead the company, achieving $300M in revenue for 2004 and left following Caremark’s acquisition of AdvancePCS in the same year. TheraCom is currently a division of the Lash Group/AmerisourceBergen.

During Mark’s non-compete period, he co-founded Bethesda Partners, LLC, an investment and consulting firm, managing investments in six healthcare and medical technology companies. In 2006, he co-founded technology companies to create greater transparency and accountability to protect and serve senior citizens who choose to stay in their own homes as they age.

Mark serves in various roles as volunteer and supporter for The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Mark also just completed a six-year term for his alma mater on the Board of Trustees for the Virginia Commonwealth University Foundation, where he supported student entrepreneurship initiatives.
