Janelle Backan has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Janelle has held various roles and positions throughout their career. Janelle started as an Occupational Therapist at ParaMed Home Health Care in 2010, where they provided services to both pediatric and adult clients. Janelle then worked as an Occupational Therapist at Centric Health Management, where they provided individual and group therapy sessions to residents at Long Term Care facilities. In 2013, they joined the Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre as a Case Manager and Care Coordinator, where they facilitated treatment and discharge plans for clients. Janelle then moved on to the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network in 2016, where they served as the Manager of Operations, Home and Community Care, responsible for leading various teams and overseeing the allocation of healthcare resources. Most recently, they held the position of Director of Operations and Director of Client Services at Circle of Care, Sinai Health System. Janelle is currently working at CarePartners as the Director of Allied Health. Overall, Janelle has demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering quality healthcare services and implementing effective strategies to meet the needs of clients and organizations.
Janelle Backan holds a Master of Science (MSc.) in Occupational Therapy from Western University, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc.) with Special Honors in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University from 2004 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, Janelle has obtained certifications in "The School for Change Agents" from NHS Horizons and "Lean Six Sigma Black Belt" from Acuity Institute, both in 2023.
