Andy McGowan

Andy McGowan is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in policy and practice concerning young carers and young adult carers. Currently serving as the Policy and Practice Manager at Carers Trust, Andy leads the organization’s policy initiatives and coordinates the Young Carers Alliance, connecting around 150 organizations and 400 individuals. Previous roles include Public Affairs and Policy Advisor at Our Time, ensuring support for children of parents with mental illness, and Head of Engagement at Caring Together, where Andy established a similar Young Carers Alliance. Additional experience includes management positions in community support services and involvement in youth advocacy, alongside early career work in the food service industry and student union activities. Andy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Cambridge.
