Andres Alvarez is an Autonomous Driving Software Engineer with extensive experience in motion control and simulation. Currently employed at CARIAD since October 2023, Andres focuses on trajectory following controllers for automated driving functions. Previous roles include engineering positions at Argo AI, where a modular vehicle dynamics simulator was designed and implemented, and BMW Group, where a master thesis on energy-efficient automated braking maneuvers was conducted, along with an internship in motion control. Andres has also contributed to the development of autonomous racecars at KA-RaceIng e.V. and worked in various engineering capacities at FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik, Bosch, and Schaeffler. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Mechatronics and Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
