Dr. Mario Berk

Dr. Mario Berk is a Senior System Development Engineer at CARIAD since June 2022, specializing in camera object detection and lidar sensor perception for automated driving. Prior experience includes a role at AUDI AG from November 2015 to June 2022, focusing on lidar sensor development and SOTIF (ISO 21448) expertise while also contributing to a collaborative Ph.D. project with the Technical University of Munich (TUM) assessing the safety of environment perception in automated driving vehicles. Dr. Berk’s educational background includes a Ph.D. in Engineering Risk Analysis, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, all from TUM, along with a Machine Learning Nanodegree from Udacity. Additional roles include working student positions in ESG risk consulting and environmental governance at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, student assistant roles in various engineering areas, and internships in engineering fields related to tunnel construction and hydropower plant planning.
