Shanna Flowers

Shanna Flowers is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in guest and volunteer services. Currently serving as the Director of Guest Services at Carilion Clinic since 2009, Shanna has managed employee screening operations for COVID-19 across multiple sites and collaborated with clinical staff to ensure adherence to visitation policies. In the role of Manager of Volunteer Services at Carilion Clinic, Shanna directed a 200-person volunteer program aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction through effective customer service initiatives. Prior to this, Shanna worked as a newspaper journalist from 1985 to 2009, including a tenure as City Editor at The Detroit News and a copy editor on a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative series. Shanna holds a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from Hollins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism from Howard University. Additionally, Shanna authored the book "The Beauty of the BUT" in November 2017.
