Irena Grgic has a strong background in the field of data science and engineering. Irena started their career as an intern at KPMG, where they worked on a counterparty credit risk project. After completing their internship, they joined Allianz, where they held multiple roles. As a research statistician, they led a Big Data project focused on implementing machine learning methods for predicting insurance claims. Irena also conducted statistical analysis of unstructured data for top management and regulatory purposes. Later, they transitioned into a role as a data scientist, where they worked on prediction of stock market indices and portfolio optimization using recurrent neural networks and developed a cloud-based user interface. Irena joined ZEISS Group in 2022 as a lead MLOps engineer and eventually became the lead DevOps engineer in 2023.
Irena Grgic holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Financial Mathematics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, which they obtained from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Zagreb from 2009 to 2013. Irena also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics from the University of Zagreb, completed from 2006 to 2009. Additionally, Irena has obtained various certifications, including Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera in 2020, Machine Learning Foundations: A Case Study Approach from Coursera in 2019, and an Actuarial Sciences Specialization from the German Association of Actuaries in 2015.
