Nelson Tate is a Senior Systems Design Engineer at ZEISS Medical Technology, specializing in Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) products within the Chronic Disease Management division. Since August 2017, Nelson has led systems engineering for the CIRRUS product line and has overseen new OCT development. Previous roles at ZEISS included providing post-launch support for the CLARUS 500 and developing methodologies for optical artifacts. An intern at ZEISS, Nelson contributed to testing ophthalmology devices and streamlining problem detection through coding in Matlab and Python. Prior to ZEISS, Nelson served as a Teaching Assistant at Western Washington University, teaching physics labs, and worked as a Research Assistant under Dr. Andreas Riemann. Nelson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Western Washington University.
