Steven Cooke is a prominent academic and researcher in the fields of aquatic ecology, conservation biology, and environmental science. Currently serving as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge in the Zoology Department, Steven works alongside Dr. Bill Sutherland and the Conservation Evidence Team. As a Canada Research Professor and Canada Research Chair at Carleton University, Steven leads research initiatives focused on freshwater and marine fish. Additionally, Steven contributes to the field as Director of the Canadian Centre for Evidence-Informed Conservation, Editor-in-Chief of the AFS Journal "Fisheries," Co-Editor-in-Chief of the "Environmental Evidence" journal, and provides strategic advisory support for the Conservation Physiology journal. Leadership roles include Chair of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, the Fish Guidelines Revision Committee for the Canadian Council on Animal Care, and the International Science Advisory Committee for Ocean Tracking Network. Steven's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Natural Resources/Conservation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and relevant degrees from the University of Waterloo.
