Maren McCoy Folsom is an experienced educator and administrator currently serving as Principal at Carlsbad Municipal Schools since August 2021, following a role as Assistant Principal. Prior to this, Maren worked at The University of New Mexico from November 2019 to August 2021 as an Early Childhood Instructional Coach, where practice-based coaching was implemented to enhance teaching effectiveness and student achievement. Maren’s teaching experience includes time as an Early Childhood Educator at Carlsbad Municipal Schools from December 2008 to November 2019, focusing on First Grade, Second Grade, and Developmentally Delayed Preschool. Maren holds a B.A. in Marketing Communications from Brigham Young University and a Master's degree in Curriculum & Pedagogy from New Mexico State University.

Carlsbad Municipal Schools is seeking dedicated educators to challenge and inspire students to develop the skills and aptitudes necessary to make a living, succeed in a post-secondary education, and positively impact their world. Carlsbad Schools does offer hiring incentives up to $20,000 based on experience. Relocation expenses are also offered based on mileage. At Carlsbad Schools we offer mentor programs for incoming teachers to help support them during their first year, complete dossier for leveling up as well as OPAL for alternative licensure. Teacher housing is available on a first come, first serve basis. We will be implementing Opportunity Culture during the 23-24 school year to better provide our teachers with mentoring and offer students a quality education.
