James Burgess

James Burgess has been working in the medical field since 1998. James began their career as a Neurosurgeon at Inova Health System in 1998. In 2003, they became an External Affiliate at the Krasnow Institute at George Mason University. In 2005, they took on the role of Staff Neurosurgeon at Allegheny Health Network. In 2007, they became a Faculty Instructor and Adjunct at Carnegie Mellon University. James also founded Carmell Therapeutics in 2008 and Surgeoneering in 2012. In 2018, they began working as a Clinical Neurosurgeon at UPMC Altoona.

James Burgess obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Zoology and Chemistry from Marshall University between 1976-1980. James then obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from West Virginia University School of Medicine between 1976-1980. In 2015, they obtained their Master of Medical Management (MMM) from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master's Degree in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
