Sarah Yerkes serves as a Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace since April 2017 and previously held the roles of Fellow. Prior experience includes positions as a Nonresident Fellow and Visiting Fellow at The Brookings Institution, as well as a member of the Policy Planning Staff and Foreign Affairs Officer focusing on Israel and Palestinian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Yerkes also worked as a Geopolitical Research Analyst at the United States Department of Defense, was an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University, and served as a Research Analyst at The Brookings Institution. Yerkes holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Government from Georgetown University, a Master’s Degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Emory University.
