John Mulchaey has extensive experience in the field of astronomy, serving as the Deputy for Science at the Carnegie Institution for Science since December 2020. Prior to this role, John has held various positions at the Observatories of The Carnegie Institution for Science since September 1994, including Director, Acting Director, Associate Director for Academic Affairs, and previously as a Carnegie Postdoctoral Fellow. John Mulchaey earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Astronomy from the University of Maryland between 1989 and 1994, and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Astrophysics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1989.
