Maxine Gutierrez

Maxine Gutierrez is a Graduate Student Researcher in the Department of Plant Biology at the Carnegie Institution for Science, where responsibilities include conducting research since April 2022. Previous experience includes roles as a Research Intern in the same department, an Instructional Laboratory Assistant in Chemistry at Mission College, and a Biology and Chemistry Tutor at the Academic Support Center. Maxine also completed internships with Point Blue Conservation Science and the Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies at UC Davis, focusing on conservation efforts and qualitative research respectively. Additional positions include Animal Care Attendant for the City of San José and a Functional Movement Instructor at San José State University. Maxine holds a M.S. in Biological Sciences from California State University - East Bay and a B.S. in Kinesiology from San José State University, complemented by a minor in Spanish and participation in the LEAD Filipino program.
