Matthew R. Marsteller

Matthew R. Marsteller is a seasoned library professional with extensive experience in academia, currently serving as Principal Librarian Emeritus and Associate Dean for Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University since August 1999. In this role, oversight is provided for the library faculty annual review process as well as faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions in accordance with university policies. Previous positions at Carnegie Mellon included Principal Librarian and Senior Librarian for Engineering & Science, where in-depth research support was offered to various engineering and science departments. Marsteller also held the role of Head of Science Libraries and served as an Adjunct Professor at Clarion University, teaching various courses related to library science. Earlier career experience includes leadership at EG&G Technical Services and a role as Assistant Science Librarian at the University of South Carolina, along with military service in the United States Navy. Marsteller holds a Master's degree in Library Science and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from PennWest Clarion.
