Kara Fikse has a wealth of experience in the arts and cultural sector. Kara began their career in 2010 as a Museum Intern at the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia. From there, they held various internships at prestigious institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and Phillips. In 2014, they interned at Christie's in the Postwar and Contemporary Art department. Kara then worked at Sotheby's as a Floater in Shipping & Logistics before joining the Smithsonian American Art Museum as a Public Programs Coordinator in 2015. In 2017, they transitioned to the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, starting as an Advancement Events Manager and eventually moving up to Assistant Director and then Director of Donor Engagement & Stewardship. Kara's career trajectory showcases their dedication to the arts and their development of skills in philanthropy and donor management.

Kara Fikse obtained their B.A. in Art History and Spanish from the University of Virginia between the years 2008 and 2012. Following that, they pursued a M.A. degree in Arts Administration from Columbia University, which they completed from 2012 to 2014.
