John Lassiter has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and positions. John began their career as an Assistant Attorney General at the North Carolina Department of Justice in 1981. In 1983, they joined Belk Stores Services, where they served as Vice President - Counsel and later as Senior Vice President - Human Resources. In 1992, Lassiter became a Board Member at large / Vice Chair at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, a position they held until 2003. During their tenure at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, they also served as an Owner of Carolina Legal Staffing from 1997 onwards. In 2003, Lassiter transitioned to the City of Charlotte, where they became a City Council at-large member until 2009. Lassiter's extensive experience in various roles demonstrates their versatility and adaptability in different fields.
John Lassiter obtained a Bachelor's degree in Politics from Wake Forest University in 1976. John then pursued a Master's degree in Public Affairs from North Carolina State University from 1976 to 1977. Finally, they attended Wake Forest University from 1977 to 1980 to earn their JD (Juris Doctor) degree in Law.
