Director, CMG Quality And Patient Safety at Caromont Health

Cindy Burton has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Cindy started their career as an RN-Blood Donor Services at Novant Health in 2001, collecting blood donations and supervising donor areas. Cindy then transitioned to performing scrub and circulating duties in various surgical settings at Novant Health and Northeast Medical Center-Gateway Ambulatory Surgery Center.

In 2005, Cindy joined Microsulis Medical Limited as a Clinical Nurse Educator, responsible for field-level execution of physician certification programs and clinical education programs for the Southeast United States. Cindy also provided clinical education and training to Microsulis personnel.

Cindy returned to CaroMont Health in 2006, assuming the role of Schedule Coordinator-RN and later Assistant Manager, Peri-operative Services. Cindy managed and coordinated activities at a busy six-suite ambulatory surgery center, and played an important role in policy development, schedule coordination, and the reopening of a new outpatient surgery center.

From 2012 onwards, Cindy held various positions at CaroMont Health, including Care Coordination Navigator, Quality Registered Nurse, Quality Coordinator, and Manager of CMG Quality. In these roles, they were involved in ensuring compliance with quality metric initiatives, managing performance improvement initiatives, and overseeing data abstraction and submission for value-based programs. Cindy also reviewed and educated stakeholders on CMS rule changes.

Currently, Cindy holds the position of Director, CMG Quality and Patient Safety at CaroMont Health, a role they assumed in December 2022. In this role, they are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the CMG Quality division and oversees education and reporting of quality metrics for value-based programs.

Cindy Burton has a Master's degree in Nursing Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, which they obtained between 2019 and 2021. Prior to that, they earned a BSN degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte between 2003 and 2004. Their earliest nursing education was an ADN degree from Carolina's College of Health Sciences, which they completed between 1998 and 2000. In addition, they hold a certification as a Registered Nurse from the North Carolina Board of Nursing, obtained in October 2000.
