Lisa first attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from 1978 to 1979, where they earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree with a focus on Education. Following this, they transferred to Oakland University from 1979 to 1980, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services. Finally, from 1980 to 1982, Lisa attended Taylor University, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in the same field of study.
In addition to their educational background, Lisa has obtained several certifications. In 2006, they earned the Certified Meeting Planner credential from the Convention Industry Council. Later on, in September 2017, Lisa became a Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS) through the Society of Incentive and Travel Executives Inc. Finally, in September 2020, they acquired the Certified Incentive Travel Professional (CITP) certification from the same institution.
